At New Model International School, science is an integral part of the curriculum and each student in the Lower School has lessons in Basic Science as a core subject. In Years 7 and 8, the different science subject disciplines are integrated and taught by a single teacher, whereas from Year 9 onwards we begin to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate subjects, each delivered by a subject specialist. At the end of Year 9, students choose their optional subjects; those with a passion for the sciences may decide to study all three science subjects, but we insist that every student takes at least one science for the next three years, leading to Year 12 WASSCE and NECO exams.
